“From São Paulo, the biggest and craziest city in Brazil, comes Jumbo Elektro, a band that has been playing in lots of clubs and festivals around the country since 2003.
This seven-piece group does a mix of Ramones-like punk guitars with electro beats inspired by Kraftwerk, Devo and other cool vintage stuff.
Other influences include Os Mutantes, Blur and Serge Gainsbourg. Besides the impact that comes from its music, the band gained attention in Brazil’s underground for its energetic performances and sense of humour.
On stage, the seven musicians incorporate weird alter-egos, each one with a bizarre profile. The lyrics are sung in mad versions of english, spanish, german, french and japonese (a freak “idiom” we call “embromation”).”
