Fashion promoted modernist trends in music in the early twentieth century, mainly in France. The new aesthetic approaches were related to fashion in a manner that was perfectly attuned to the tastes of the jazz age.
Coco Chanel is a good example of woman that influenced composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Les Six, determining what was counted as chic and elegant. Chanel revolutionized haute couture replacing the traditional corset with the comfort and casual elegance of simple suits and dresses.
I’ve recently seen the term “Kate Moss effect” in the internet and was curious about it.
Based on a survey commissioned by Freeview Playback the term was coined because Kate is blamed for rising emphasis on designer clothes on music festivals. Music festivals today are more about designer wardrobes than the acts on stage, according to new research out.
A third of the women, admitted in the survey that they had to shop for a completely new wardrobe for their festival weekend.
What I can’t understand is why they are spreading so loud the strong influence of fashion on music festivals and the results of this survey. (more…)
First, it was the huge success of Kate Moss creations on sale at TopShop. It was expected that her clothes would fly off the rails within days - what happened indeed.
Kate posed in the window of TopShop on Oxford Street to launch her own clothing range on April 30, 2007 in London.
Then, the italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli is creating his own collection for TopShop - not yet on sale.
TopShop is a fabulous brit high street fashion store and my favourite store is located in Oxford St.
It was quite usual to walk around the city alone, when I lived in London. Perhaps that was the most introspective experience of my entire life.
Besides walking along the river bank in the end of the day, one of my favourite places in London is Brick Lane street. At least once a week I took the tube towards Aldgate East station to visit the East End.
Brick Lane’s neighborhood is a very interesting place. The Spitalfields market, the Whitechapel gallery, many Bangladeshi restaurants, coffee shops, designers’ studios… they are all popping up in Brick Lane!
One special place is a second hand clothes store named Absolute Vintage.
Being an Economist - and a Fashion Designer as well - is nice.
Besides, I’m having lot’s of fun on being a model - the joys of having a very talented photographer hubby… we love to make some shooting sessions in our spare time.
A friend liked them so much and asked us for shooting the pictures for her new catalog of products. We already started the shots, but it’s still a secret…
I will share some of our other pictures. Looking forward to know my friend’s opinion.

This one is from yesterday. I’m wearing my new stripe blouse from Zara.
The blue atmosphere was created by making some home made lighting effects (a transparent green plastic over the light, hahaha).

This one is also from yesterday, but the green plastic is over the flash of the camera…

This was shot some weeks ago, very clean atmosphere. Stripes again - I love stripes!

At last, one of my favourite shots ever - me, shaking my hair. This could be used in an IPod ad!
You can see more pictures from our shooting sessions on my hubby’s Flickr - Spotlights on Anna.
