Fairy lights

Instead of trying to write on this blog in a regular basis - what is quite impossible - I will try to start posting images from my life in London. Single details from the city, things I buy to the house, landscapes, etc. So I can be more or less secure that I do have things to share in case anyone care. lol.

Those are my fairy lights, from Candem Town. I love lights, I love balls (lol) and I looove colours. Perfect combination, isn’t it? They are decorating the kitchen. You can have it as well, they sell online in the UK.

The Other Half

It’s quite complicated to find a great TV show here in Italy; ok, not only in Italy - everywhere else but in the UK.

There is a TV channel named QOOB, a kind of MTV but much more experimentalist. The great thing about QOOB is that the ads are short movies and animation, most of them French, from young artists.

One of my favourites is The Other Half, by Nick Scott, graduated from the London Academy of Film and TV.

It’s about two ex-lovers reminiscing about their relationship, whilst nostalgically revisiting the places that hold shared memories. Considering their time together making them reconsider the reasons why they fell apart.

According to Nick, “the actors in the film were a couple in real life when we shot the film but have since broken up, and neither of them can really watch it!” Curious, isn’t it?

Filmed in an old super8 camera, I loved it!

I have a bunch of friends from high school that are good friends still now. It’s great to see how talented they are, like Daniel Ferreira who made the videoclip Red Blues for the band Del-O-Max.

The video won the brazilian prize “Rock Day”. Enjoy !!!

Italy

I’ve not been writing for ages, but here I come again!

I am not in Brazil anymore - since the beginning of August I am living in Italy, in Trentino Alto Adige.

Italy is full of irreverence and I’m amazed to see that they have some “events” like the Penis Drawing Contest and the V Day (Va fan culo Day which means Fuck You Day, prommoted by Beppe Grillo, a very famous comedian.

I’ m having lots of fun!

Here is a video from MTV Italy, ad of a programme called Very Victoria, presented by a famous italian VJ, Victoria Cabello. The music is great (in Japanese) as well as the choreography.

Fashion promoted modernist trends in music in the early twentieth century, mainly in France. The new aesthetic approaches were related to fashion in a manner that was perfectly attuned to the tastes of the jazz age.

Coco Chanel is a good example of woman that influenced composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Les Six, determining what was counted as chic and elegant. Chanel revolutionized haute couture replacing the traditional corset with the comfort and casual elegance of simple suits and dresses.

I’ve recently seen the term “Kate Moss effect” in the internet and was curious about it.

Based on a survey commissioned by Freeview Playback the term was coined because Kate is blamed for rising emphasis on designer clothes on music festivals. Music festivals today are more about designer wardrobes than the acts on stage, according to new research out.

A third of the women, admitted in the survey that they had to shop for a completely new wardrobe for their festival weekend.

What I can’t understand is why they are spreading so loud the strong influence of fashion on music festivals and the results of this survey. (more…)

First, it was the huge success of Kate Moss creations on sale at TopShop. It was expected that her clothes would fly off the rails within days - what happened indeed.

Kate posed in the window of TopShop on Oxford Street to launch her own clothing range on April 30, 2007 in London.

Then, the italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli is creating his own collection for TopShop - not yet on sale.

TopShop is a fabulous brit high street fashion store and my favourite store is located in Oxford St.

O’Malleys

I strongly recommend visiting O’Malleys pub at Alameda Itú, in Sao Paulo.

O’Malleys is an authentic irish pub where you can have a pint of Guiness - I must say I prefer Heineken - and spend quite a bit of time watching rugby or football games on TV. Very british… ops, irish

I like to sit close to the little window and watch people passing on the street.

L’Histoire du soldat

L’Histoire du Soldat (The Soldier’s Tale), by Charles Ferdinand Ramuz “is the Faustian story of a young soldier who sells his soul to the Devil in return for infinite wealth.”

Perhaps then, it’s no coincidence that it was created by Stravinsky, alongside writer Ramuz, in a Switzerland surrounded by the ravages of World War I.

First time I’ve listened to the Stravinsky’s music theatre piece, The Soldier’s Tale, was in Campos do Jordão Music Festival, in Brazil. It was in 2004. John Neschling was the music director and the Narrator. I have never seen anything as extraordinary as this - so far.
